Dandruff is a chronic condition that can almost always be controlled, but dandruff treatment may take a little patience and persistence. In general, mild scaling can often be helped by daily cleansing with a gentle shampoo to reduce oiliness and cell buildup.

Many over-the-counter shampoos can keep moderate dandruff in check, but consult your doctor about more stubborn forms such as seborrheic dermatitis. Some herbal remedies may relieve the itching and dryness, but it usually takes a medicated product to subdue the greasy scales.

All-fruit diet with three meals a day of juicy fruits. Diet plays an important role in the dandruff treatment. To begin with, the patient should resort to an all-fruit diet for about five days and take three meals a day of juicy fruits. Avoid citrus fruits, bananas; tinned fruits Citrus fruits, bananas, dried, stewed, or tinned fruits should not be taken.

Apply a paste made of crushed sesame seeds to hair (soak them for two hours at least). Keep it on for at least half-an-hour before washing.

Soak half cup soap nut overnight in one cup of warm water. Extract the juice from the soap nut by rubbing them vigorously. Strain. Apply directly on the scalp. Leave this on for 15 minutes. Rinse and wash your hair with tepid water. Shut your eyes tightly while rinsing as it hurts the eyes. Ensure that no residue is left behind.

For those with mild dandruff, the simple dandruff treatment answer to your problem may simply be finding a good shampoo. There are many dandruff shampoos on the market that are great at controlling mild dandruff. Just pick one up at your favorite and reputable store. Try it for at least 2 weeks and if you see no improvement, try another variety.

Apply a paste made from 2-Tsp. henna powder, 1-tsp. curd, 1-tsp. fenugreek seed powder, 1 tbsp. coffee, 2-tbsp. mint juice and 2-tbsp. basil juice. Apply this paste to the hair for two hours. For a darker color, leave this paste in for 3 to 4 hours. Wash hair with any natural shampoo.

Tea tree oil, rosemary oil and geranium are very helpful in reducing dandruff. You can add few drops of them into your massage oil and apply this mixture on your head; it will reduce your problem of dandruff. This is also one of the good home remedies for dandruff.

Apply lemon juice mixed with sugar on the scalp. Then expose the hair to the sun’s heat for five to six hours and let the juice dry. When this is done, wash the hair with a mild shampoo. Although this may sound difficult but this can solve the dandruff problem to a great extent.

Dandruff is not a preventable disorder, so if you have dandruff, don’t worry about trying to prevent it. Instead you should focus on controlling it. There are many things you can make a part of your daily habits that will help you control your dandruff.
